Dholera International Airport is a proposed greenfield airport in Gujarat, developed as an integral part of the Dholera Smart City project. The airport will be located near Navagam village in Dholera taluka of Ahmedabad district, covering an area of approximately 1,426 hectares. It lies about 80 kilometers from Ahmedabad and nearly 20 kilometers from the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR).
In 2021, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a ₹987 crore tender for Phase I of the project. The initial development includes a 3,200-meter runway designed to accommodate 4E category aircraft. Once operational, the airport is planned to handle up to 50 million passengers per annum (MPPA), significantly enhancing regional and international air connectivity.
The Administration Cum Business Center Dholera (ABCD) is a key development proposed within the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) under the Dholera Smart City program. Designed to support administrative functions and commercial growth, the center will bring together government departments, corporate offices, and business services in one integrated complex.
Situated in Dholera’s Central Business District, the ABCD will occupy approximately 20 acres. It will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including meeting and conference facilities, exhibition spaces, retail outlets, food and dining areas, and ample parking provisions.
The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway is a 109-kilometre long access-controlled highway currently under development in Gujarat, India. Initially designed as a four-lane expressway with provision for future expansion to eight lanes, the project aims to significantly improve regional connectivity.
The expressway will link Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej in Ahmedabad to Adhelai village in Bhavnagar district, passing through the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), which is a key component of the Dholera Smart City initiative. The stretch between Sarkhej and Dholera SIR measures approximately 71 kilometres. The planned Dholera International Airport near Navagam, located about 20 kilometres from Dholera SIR, will also be directly connected along this corridor.
The Dholera Solar Park is among India’s largest solar energy projects and a key pillar of the Dholera Smart City initiative. Planned with an ambitious total capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW), it represents a significant step toward large-scale renewable energy generation. Its strategic location near the Gulf of Khambhat provides added advantages for infrastructure development and connectivity.
The project is being implemented in multiple phases, with Phase I targeting the installation of 1,000 MW of solar power capacity. Beyond expanding clean energy production, the park contributes to sustainable economic development in the region. By adopting advanced technologies, the Dholera Solar Park sets new standards for future solar projects and reinforces India’s commitment to its long-term renewable energy and sustainability goals.
